For the second time in a row, this red state has elected a democratic governor.

We didn't sweep, but this time I was part of it. Stranded at work, I sent out a call to my ministry listserv (no, not the band, ya dinks) and Father Will out at St. Johns came to my rescue.

Next person who tells me I'm a yokel for living in a red state gets a boot plant. Why? Because today, for the first time in a decade, I felt like my vote really mattered.

It really did.

Now I have a favor to ask of all of you. Pay close attention to Mark Warner, the outgoing democratic governor of Virginia. He's not perfect, particularly for those of you who don't dig moderates, but he's done an amazing job here. Southern democratic governors who do really good jobs in their states are very attractive as national leaders.
